The cpu z-height would be different but the cooler can be used. I expect the z-height of sg2380 would be much lower than the intel one.
I wish a model with socketed ram would be available for sure myself too
For DDR5 and later, socket ram could not run the fastest frequency duo to the limitation of the connectors(DIMM/SODIMM). For LPDDR5/5x, we can run 6400MT/s or higher with on board chips easily, but with the DDR5 ram bar, the price is much higher with the same ram size. The LPDDR ram module is the new trends but not popular at the moment:
I see, I take it the oasis will be soldiered then? and possibly whatever is next could be LPCAMM? or is there a possibility OASIS could have a ānext genā model at some point utilizing LPCAMM should it gain popularity?
I would like to second the PREFERENCE for DIMM/SODIMM slots RATHER than soldered RAM.
Probably will make board mfg cheaper overall and even if weāre limited by compatible memory, so be it, better than soldered RAM which is just a bad idea.
Personally I have no preference between DIMM/SODIMM other than I DO have SOME DDR4 spare DIMMs from my original ryzen builds, not many but some that MAY work, at the end of the day I just prefer the options that slotted RAM provides as I would actually like to use this potentially as a desktop, so I am also looking for cheaper Intel arc cards, or perhaps by the time this is out use my a770 in it, as I fully intend to upgrade my primary PC to battlemage if itās even close to what it should beā¦
I was somewhat surprised to read that Milkv were planning to use soldered RAM, when I took advantage of the pre-order ācouponā I was expecting SODIMM memory slotsā¦ soldered is just a very bad idea. Better to deal with memory incompatibility yet have the potential for future expansion.
Worst case, sell the slotted memory empty or filled w/tested RAM. You buy w/mp RAM hereās what we tested and the specs, good luckā¦which is pretty much any motherboardā¦
SG2380 SoC Spec updated:
Some updated highlights are:
- Memory now up to 192bit and 96GB max capacity
- a new PCIe x16 is added, more flexible PCIe split
- up to 25Gbps ethernet is now supported, it will be a perfect network device
- TSN / AVB / IEEE1588 networking feature is supported
This will be a RISC-V beast.
Do we know if oasis will support link ecc or inline ecc?
placed order for the coupon, but oh boy the wait for the ride to startā¦
When will the coupon code be sent? Is that after placing the order?
ordered coupon and some hardware from arace.tech, still waiting myself.
The coupon will be sent out before the Oasis is shipping.
Are old coupons valid as well?
Regarding PCI-E split - PCI-E resources are indeed the most sacred resource.
I would very much prefer to utilize as many 4x devices as possible.
People without dedicated GPU will prefer 2x4x instead of 1x8x, if this configuration is possible.
4x is enough for 10/25GBe network card, or another NVME drive.
Are there any alternative ways to preorder, aside from Arace Tech? I canāt pay them with my cards. Appreciate any info!
I had same issue, I had to re-run the purchase a few times. I know there were changes being made on the backend. I emailed support when I encountered my issue. I use temporary credit cards for secure online purchases and thought my cards were the issue but I think it was the payment platform.
Either way, keep trying!
Saddly but, issue isnāt with Arace itself, but with the payment methods provided by Arace, which makes it impossible for me to make payments due to the country associated with my cards.
Dear @Satsea
This is Martin from Arace, I am sorry for your bad experience. Can you try to pay with Paypal? We have enabled Paypal recently.
Hello, @arace-martin
Saddly i canāt use PayPal either. PayPal is not working in my country
(Iām from Russia, so this problem is not on Arace. But i wish there were alternative payment method that work, but if not, Iām okay with it.)
Grabbed myself a coupon, excited for this thing, looks great!
Can I ask if there will be an option for integrated wifi/Bluetooth or it will have to be added with the M.2 slot?
I am getting petty hyped up myself. remember that episode of south park with cartman and the new gaming console? yeah, I might need to be put into stasis for a few monthsā¦
If the MARS board is a sign of the times then I would guess that wifi/bt will be a m.2 slot add on? Just a guess based on the MARS board.
