No LEDs/HDMI after failed boot. Should I switch to ATX PSU for UART diagnostics?

Hi everyone,

I recently got a Milk-V Jupiter and I’m currently stuck in a “no-boot” state. I’m looking for advice regarding power supply requirements before I proceed with deeper diagnostics.

**Current Status:**

  • Initial Setup: Attempted to boot Bianbu OS from a 500GB NVMe. It showed the logo once, then hung.

  • Current Symptoms: No status LEDs, no HDMI signal. However, TitanTools still recognizes the board in DFU mode.

  • Current PSU: 12V 4.5A (54W) wall adapter.

The Dilemma:

I’ve noticed some videos where the Jupiter can peak at 60W-66W during boot, especially with an NVMe attached. My current 54W adapter might be the reason for the initial crash and subsequent boot failure.

I have a 550W ATX Power Supply available and I just received a CP2102 UART adapter for debugging.

My Questions:

  1. Is it safer/recommended to switch to the ATX PSU via the 24-pin connector before attempting to capture UART logs?

  2. Is it possible that the 54W power drop corrupted the SPI Flash or put the PMIC in a “protect” state that prevents LEDs from lighting up?

  3. Are there any known risks of using an older ATX PSU with the Jupiter board?

I would appreciate any guidance before I plug everything in. Thanks!
