I would like to second the PREFERENCE for DIMM/SODIMM slots RATHER than soldered RAM.
Probably will make board mfg cheaper overall and even if we’re limited by compatible memory, so be it, better than soldered RAM which is just a bad idea.
Personally I have no preference between DIMM/SODIMM other than I DO have SOME DDR4 spare DIMMs from my original ryzen builds, not many but some that MAY work, at the end of the day I just prefer the options that slotted RAM provides as I would actually like to use this potentially as a desktop, so I am also looking for cheaper Intel arc cards, or perhaps by the time this is out use my a770 in it, as I fully intend to upgrade my primary PC to battlemage if it’s even close to what it should be…
I was somewhat surprised to read that Milkv were planning to use soldered RAM, when I took advantage of the pre-order ‘coupon’ I was expecting SODIMM memory slots… soldered is just a very bad idea. Better to deal with memory incompatibility yet have the potential for future expansion.
Worst case, sell the slotted memory empty or filled w/tested RAM. You buy w/mp RAM here’s what we tested and the specs, good luck…which is pretty much any motherboard…
